McNabb's Pro-Bowl Bound

Eagles' QB named to his sixth Pro Bowl, safety Mikell makes 1st team

Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb is headed to Miami -- sorry fans -- it isn’t for the Super Bowl.

The Eagles signal caller was named to his sixth Pro-Bowl squad Monday. D-Mac won’t be going it alone.

McNabb and Eagles safety Quintin Mikell were added to the NFC roster, said team officials.

McNabb’s gain is really because of the Saints gain. He replaces Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who is out of the game after the Saints advanced to the Super Bowl with a win over the Minnesota Vikings.

Despite missing two games with a rib injury, McNabb still completed more than 60 percent of his passes for an impressive 3,553 yards and 22 scores while being picked off only 10 times.

Mikell, who joined the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Boise State, replaces the Saints' Darren Sharper. It is Mikell's first Pro Bowl nod. The 29-year-old picked off two passes and made 67 tackles while playing in all 16 games.

The Pro Bowl will be held Sunday in Miami, a week before the Super Bowl, rather than after the end of the season as in years past.

Nine Eagles players are slated to play in this year's game. Wideout DeSean Jackson, fullback Leonard Weaver, tackle Jason Peters, kicker David Akers, long snapper Jon Dorenbos, defensive end Trent Cole and cornerback Asante Samuel were already named to the NFC squad.
