Phillies skipper Charlie Manuel feels as comfortable in the kitchen as he does in the dugout. Join Charlie and his fiance Melissa as they make one of the manager's favorites.
The Phillies announced Thursday that Uncle Charlie had signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him in red pinstripes through 2013.
“We are pleased to have come to terms with Charlie,” said General Manager Ruben Amaro, Jr. “He has been an integral part of the success we’ve had over the past several years. There was little doubt that he was going to continue to be our skipper past his current contract and we look forward to the next three years with the hopes of continued success.”
No specifics on what the Skipper will be raking in were released, but it's believed the contract could be worth between $7 and $8 million.
Since Manuel’s been at the helm, the Phightins have won four consecutive division titles, two National League pennants and a World Series Championship.
With the contract settled let's hope Charlie gets "Hitting Season" going early.
