Lou Will Signs With Hawks

The Hawks and Lou Williams agreed to a multi-year contract, according to ESPN.

It will be a homecoming for former Sixers guard Lou Williams. The fan favorite signed with his hometown Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks and Williams agreed to a multi-year contract, according to ESPN.

CSN reports Williams had a player option to return with the Sixers for one more year next season. He decided to explore free agency instead however.

Last Friday the Sixers agreed to a one-year contract with guard Nick Young. They also amnestied Elton Brand which removed $18 million off the salary cap. When news of the Young signing broke out, Williams tweeted he wouldn’t be coming back to the Sixers.

"Philly, I appreciate you all. Unfortunately I will not be coming back, as an organization they decided to move in a different direction."

The 25-year-old Williams was drafted in the second round straight out of high school back in 2005. Last year he finished second in voting for Sixth Man of the Year and averaged a career best 14.9 points per game.
