A 7-year-old boy has come to the aid of San Francisco 49er Kyle Williams, whose two miscues in last week's playoff game against the Giants likely cost his team a trip to the Super Bowl and generated death threats.
Sick fans tweeted that Williams should "jump off the Golden Gate Bridge," that he and his family "deserve" to die and other awful sentiments.
Owen Shure, a diehard 49ers fan from Los Angeles, was as inconsolable as any San Francisco fan after Williams fumbled a punt late in the game. But when his father pointed out that no one felt worse than Williams, the boy showed compassion adults could learn from, according to Owen's godfather, film critic Ben Mankiewicz.
"Can I write him a letter to make him feel better?" Owen asked his dad. His father said "sure," and here's what the kid wrote:
Dear Mr. Williams:
We just watched the Playoff game. I feel really bad for you but I wanted to tell you that you had a great season. you sould be very proud, so I wanted to say thank you.
I am your #1 FAN!

Mankiewicz, writing in The Huffington Post, said he was moved by his godson's actions.
