No Major Damage in Lidge's Elbow

Closer day-to-day with elbow inflammation

Good news from Phillies camp Thursday afternoon.

Closer Brad Lidge has no major structural damage in his throwing elbow.

Lidge was examined Thursday morning by team doc Michael Ciccotti.

The team reported on the findings:

“Lidge, who experienced stiffness in his right elbow on Monday, had a gadolinium MRI today which revealed no loose bodies and no structural damage. It also revealed that his flexor pronator surgery (performed last November) is healing properly. The MRI did reveal inflammation in the lining of his elbow joint. His status is day-to-day.”

The 33-year-old righty has one save with a 2.70 ERA in four relief appearances this season.
