Let's Not Forget About the Eagles

Seahawks will be formidable opponents

Congrats to the Phillies!  They had a great week and they'll have a great off-season reveling in their World Champion-ness, but we can't forget about our beloved Birds whose record is improving quickly.

In week 9 of the regular season, the Eagles are looking to extend their recent winning streak for another week, but the Seahawks stand to be a formidable opponent even without their starting QB.

Seattle's Matt Hasselbeck will not start this week, leaving the job to second-string Seneca Wallace.  Wallace has only started six times in his six years in the NFL, but Philadelphia Eagles.com's Steve Linert feels Wallace's storied college days may come in handy.

The Eagles will be missing their share of starters on Sunday too.  L.J. Smith, who was questionable earlier in the week with a concussion, will not play.  Brent Celek will take his spot as tight end.  A few other players have made the Eagles' injury report including Jason Avant, Juqua Parker, Reggie Brown, DeSean Jackson, Brian Westbrook and Asante Samuel.  All but Avant are expected to play.

On the other side of the line, Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg has his concerns about the Seahawk's defense.  "This defense that we are going to face is much better than their record indicates. They do some things very well. They are very well coached, so we have our work cut out for us," said Mornhinweg during a press conference Thursday.
With all the concerns flying, most expect the Eagles to jet home from the west coast with a big W.

If the team can make it back with a win, our city's chances of a post-season twofer may just have some traction.

GO BIRDS!
