“Nails” Goes Hollywood

Is Tinseltown ready for the "Dude?"

One of Philly’s most memorable sports figures could be hitting a big screen near you.

According to our friends at the700level.com, Lenny “The Dude” Dykstra will be playing himself in an upcoming version of Michael Lewis’ “Moneyball.”

“Moneyball” is the true story of Oakland A's G.M. Billy Beane’s successful construction of a major-league baseball team on a little-league budget. Because of the team's shallow pockets, Oakland was forced to use computer-generated statistics to find value in players that were undervalued in the baseball market.

Directed by Bennett Miller and rumored to star Brad Pitt as Beane and comedian Demetri Martin as owner Paul De Podesta, the film is slated to include other former major-leaguers Darryl Strawberry, Scott Hatteberg, and David Justice, according to IMDB.com.

The exact release date is still undecided, but is targeted for 2011.

The paycheck couldn't come soon enough for the allegedly broke Dykstra. Nails has reportedly fallen on hard times following a meteoric rise in the stock market.
