76ers Talk to Laimbeer About Coaching Job

76ers talk to Laimbeer, Mitchell about coach job

The Sixers could be bringing in an old rival known for his tough play to coach the team.

Minnesota Timberwolves assistant Bill Laimbeer is a candidate to be Philadelphia's next head coach.

Laimbeer met with the 76ers on Sunday in Dallas to discuss the team's vacancy.

The 6-foot-11 bruiser was a star for the Detroit Pistons and head coach of the WNBA's Detroit Shock, before being hired by Timberwolves head coach Kurt Rambis to join his staff last summer.

Another candidate for the 76ers job has a tie to the Timberwolves, former player Sam Mitchell. He also talked with 76ers team officials on Sunday about the position. Mitchell previously was the head coach for the Toronto Raptors.
