La Salle Women's Soccer Team Is Undefeated

The Explorers make school history this season.

The La Salle University women's soccer team is exploring new territory this season, by making their first-ever appearance in the national rankings. Soccer America ranked the undefeated Explorers at #17.

The team celebrated it's 14th straight victory on Sunday, in an away match against Saint Louis.

Players hope to continue their winning streak Wednesday, as they return to Kingston, Rhode Island for a re-match against the Rams. Last Friday, after playing only 18 minutes of soccer, that game was rained out. The re-match is scheduled for 4 p.m.

If victorious over the Rams, the Explorers would make school history, clinching their first regular season Atlantic 10 championship for La Salle, and securing a number one seed in next weekend's conference tournament, according to the La Salle University Athletic Department.

"The team has been building towards a goal all season long of making it to the Atlantic 10 final, and since we have not accomplished that yet, we are still hungry and hope to continue playing hard until we get there," said head coach Paul Royal.

The team will finish up their regular season Friday evening in New York City, with a 7 p.m. game against Fordham University. This is part of a double-header for La Salle. The men's soccer team will take the field against Fordham at 5 p.m.

Penn State is the only other local college that's nationally ranked this week at number 11.

The Atlantic 10 Tournament begins on Nov. 6th in Dayton, Ohio.
