A.I. Set to “Answer” Turkish Team's Call: Report

Two-year deal reportedly worth $4 million

After plenty of rumors it looks like Allen Iverson is about to give up on finding a job in the NBA to play in Turkey instead.

A top official of Turkish basketball team Besiktas says the former Sixers great is keen to play for the Istanbul squad.

Besiktas executive board member Seref Yalcin told the Turkey’s Anatolia news agency Monday that he would travel to the United States to discuss terms of a possible deal with the 11-time NBA All-Star and former scoring champion.

Yalcin would discuss “a variety of details” with Iverson later this week, he said. Issues included schools in Istanbul for Iverson's children.

“I think this transfer will take place,” Yalcin said.

The two-year deal would be worth about $4 million, according to a Reuters report on Yahoo! News.

Iverson is 17th on the NBA's career scoring list with 24,368 points. The 14-year NBA veteran returned to Philadelphia last season after underwhelming stints with Denver, Detroit and Memphis. He battled through knee problems to play in just 25 games with the Sixers before leaving the team to tend to family issues.

Since he left the Sixers, reports about Iverson’s alcohol and gambling problems as well as a pending divorce have come to light.

Despite it all Iverson remained one of the most popular players in the NBA -- he was even elected to 11th consecutive All-Star game last season.
