Hamel's MVP Prize Car Sold

John and Gina Goral of Bensalem actually love football more than they do baseball.  He loves the Steelers, she love the Eagles.

But like most of the Phils newest fans, since the team became the 2009 World Series Champs,  the Goral's wanted to own a piece of history.  The average fan grabs a t-shirt from Modell’s, the Gorals however grabbed Cole Hamels new 2010 Silver Camaro SS.

“I love this car,” John Goral told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Goral, 49, first saw Hamels’ Camaro online but wasn’t sold on the retro sports car until he got to actually sit in it on Memorial Day at Thomas Chevrolet in Media.

Within two hours, Goral and his wife beat out two other buyers and purchased the car for $35,000.  The fully loaded sports car comes with Bluetooth, satellite radio and customized console lighting. Just so you know.

Chevrolet awarded Hamel the car as part of his prize for winning the World Series MVP. But instead of taking the car for himself, Cole ordered a custom made one for his wife, Heidi. Like most sports cars she wanted it built with a stick shift.  Unfortunately, when the car arrived in May it was an automatic. So the Hamels sent it back.

“What is the since of having a sports car like that and having it automatic,” Hamel told the paper.

Gina Goral has become somewhat of a celebrity since driving the car around town.  She said an admirer has even mistaken her for Hiedi Hamels.

Though Jim Goral, a truck mechanic, said he doesn’t plan to sell the Camaro he recently entered it into a car show in Cherry Hill and was offered $50,000 for it.
