Cole Hamels ratcheted up the burgeoning Mets-Phillies feud by calling the Mets "choke artists" shortly after he took home the World Series MVP. Mets fans were angry, but silently agreed with the assessment.
Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels is now a proud dad of a baby boy.
Hamels' wife Heidi Strobel delivered Caleb Michael Hamels around 9 a.m. Friday morning at Lankenau Hospital. Both mom and baby are doing well.
The Phillies ace raced out of Citizens Bank Park during Game 2 of the NLDS Thursday when Heidi went into labor. The baby was due earlier in the week and Hamels told the TBS announcers that she could go into labor at any minute.
The child is the couple's first baby.
