Hall of Fame Elects Former Phillies GM

Former Phillies GM Pat Gillick was elected to Baseball's Hall of Fame Monday.

Gillick was the general manager of four Major League teams throughout his career. He won two titles with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1992 and 1993.

But here is Philly he will forever be remembered for leading the Phillies to the World Series Crown in 2008.

Gillick was the only man elected by the Hall's Veteran's committee.

The 73-year-old who currently serves as a senior advisor for the Phightins was humble while discussing the honor.

"It all goes back to the players they have on the field," he said. "I could stand in the middle of the field and 4 million people aren't going to show up."

He was listed as No. 7 on Sports Illustrated’s list of the Top 10 GMs/Executives of the Decade back in 2009.

As for who will join Gillick at his Cooperstown induction, the baseball writers' choices will be revealed next month.
