Mets' Francoeur Ticked Over More Phillies Home Games

Tells N.Y. paper that decision is "just bull"

Phillies fans might be rejoicing about the team getting three extra games at Citizens Bank Park this season but some of the Phightins' closest rivals weren’t too pleased.

"That's just bull----," New York outfielder Jeff Francoeur told N.Y. Daily News’ Mets Insider. "That's not really fair. That's just not fair."

MLB scheduled three more games at CBP after the Phillies-Blue Jays series scheduled for the late June in the Rogers Centre had to be moved amidst security concerns over the G-20 Summit planned for the same weekend in Toronto.

You can't blame Frenchie for being upset. It's tough enough playing on the "Mess" and trying to catch the mighty Phightins -- add in more home field advantage for the opponent and it’s seemingly even tougher.

"It's ridiculous," Francoeur said. "Absolutely crazy."

The 700 Level summed up why the Mets could have a gripe.

"All joking aside, the Phils are just 2.5 games up on the Mets right now. It's incredibly early for looking into the standings, but it's also not entirely out of the question that the division could be decided by the margin of home games the Phillies were just awarded. They caught a real nice hop on this one."

But the Phillies are actually as good on the road as at home in recent years -- they even won three more games on the road than at home last season.

Also, the Jays, despite playing in front of what will likely be an almost entirely pro-Philly crowd, will get the advantages of a home AL team -- batting last and getting to use the designated hitter.

Francoeur, though he may have a gripe, should be more concerned with winning Mets games than worrying about where the Phillies are playing. Considering the Mets right fielder is batting just .243 with four homers so far this season he might want to redirect his energy.
