Coach Ayers Comes Home to the 76ers

Randy Ayers returns to the Sixers after coaching the team for 52 games in 03/04.
A familiar face rejoined the Sixers family on Wednesday. Former head coach Randy Ayers was hired by current head coach Eddie Jordan as an assistant coach.
Ayers coached the Sixers for 52 games during the 2003/04 season and was a part of the Sixers organization for six seasons prior as the top assistant under Larry Brown.
Last season, Ayers served as an assistant coach under Jordan in Washington.
Before we went to Washington, Ayers was an assistant coach with the Orlando Magic for two seasons.
While in Washington, Ayers lowered the allowed points per game from 104.9 to 99.2. And while in Orlando, Ayers helped the Magic drop allowed points from 101.8 in 2004-2005 to 96.0 in 2005-2006 and then to 94.0 points in 2006-2007.
Ayers also coached college ball at Ohio State University where he led the Buckeyes to four postseason appearances and back-to-back Big Ten Championships in 1991 and 1992. He was named the Associated Press National Coach of the Year in 1991.
