The stars were out in force for the Flyers Monday night.

Mike Richards and Jeff Carter scored two goals apiece and rookie David Laliberte and Scott Hartnell also found the net as the Flyers scored a 6-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Ray Emery was solid in net again stopping 26 shots on the way to his seventh win of the season.

But, not all was well for the Orange and Black.

The Flyers' excitement over their victory was offset by the news that star winger Simon Gagne will miss six to eight weeks. He was scheduled to have hernia and hip surgery on Tuesday.

Without Gagne, who has one goal and four assists this season, the Flyers peppered Lightning goalie (and former Flyer) Antero Niittymaki, scoring two goals in the first period, three in the second and one in the third.

Steven Stamkos and James Halpern scored for Tampa Bay.

The win pushed the Flyers into fourth place in the stacked Atlantic Division with a 7-4-1 record.

The weekday game was played at the unusual time of 5 to make room for Game 5 of the World Series later in the in night.
