While the Philadelphia Flyers haven't officially hit the ice, they still managed to generate plenty of excitement Friday as they unveiled their jerseys for the upcoming NHL Winter Classic in Boston.
Flyers Simon Gagne, Danny Briere and Braydon Coburn along with club chairman Ed Snider were on hand at the Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, N.J. to show off the jerseys the players will wear when they skate against the Bruins at Fenway Park on New Year's Day.
Thundering slap shots from the guys broke the ice on the new look. Together they revealed the jersey by knocking off a large block of ice.
“We didn’t know what to expect,” said Briere to CSN Philly. “The ice was a lot harder to break than I expected. We didn’t have any bets who would knock the jersey down.”
So what does the new jersey look like?
It includes a basic white design with a bright orange band across the waistline as well as orange trim running down each shoulder. Also included on the right shoulder is the Winter Classic logo.
New Year's will mark the first time that the Flyers play in the annual outdoor game, which is now in its third season.

“This is an honor. It’s special to the organization,” said team president Peter Luukko to CSN Philly.
