The Flyers cut practice short Wednesday after the flu bug hit some members of the team.

Coach John Stevens took it easy on his players amid flu concerns, according to the Flyers’ official "On the Fly" Blog.

Arron Asham, Danny Briere, Dan Carcillo, Matt Carle and Ryan Parent along with assistant coach Joe Mullen were already absent from the shortened 40-minute practice.

“We decided just to lighten up practice a little bit, and get everybody who wasn’t feeling well outta here,” Stevens told On the Fly. “When practice was over we had a dry land scheduled, but to have them all hang out in the same room, we thought was not a good idea. So, we wanted to get them off the ice, get them out of here, and get as much rest as possible.”

A group of other players including Brian Boucher, Jeff Carter and Ian Laperriere weren’t near 100-percent at practice, said Delaware Online.

Despite the illnesses players remained loose.

"I'm on the edge of death," Boucher told Delaware Online with a laugh.

Luckily for the Fly Guys they had a couple of days until they next hit the ice Friday at the Florida Panthers.

And, the best move for anyone around the Flyers right now might be to follow Chris Pronger’s lead. The defenseman wore a surgical mask as he talked to reporters.

“Maybe that’s the way to go,” said Stevens.
