Eagles' 2nd-Rounder Allen Reports for Duty

Rookie inks 4-year deal

Nate Allen hit the practice field at Lehigh University Wednesday.

Allen agreed to a four-year deal very early Wednesday morning, according to 97.5 the Fanatic's Tim McManus.

The Eagles second-round draft choice (picked with the Donovan McNabb pick that the Birds got from the Redskins in exchange for their longtime quarterback) is penciled in as the starter at free safety.

The Eagles used several players at that spot last year after allowing perennial Pro Bowl safety Brian Dawkins to leave for Denver in free agency.

Allen had 224 tackles nine interceptions and four touchdowns in 48 games at South Florida.

He reported to camp Wednesday after missing just one full dya of practice.

The signing leaves first-round pick Brandon Graham as the Eagles' only unsigned draft pick.

To make room for Allen the Birds released defensive end/linebacker Alex Hall, said Moving the Chains. The Birds got Hall along with draft pick from the Browns in exchange for Sheldon Brown and Chris Gocong.
