The Eagles QB wanted more time but agreed to more money

All the hoopla surrounding #5 appears to over (for now) as the Eagles announce they have agreed to a restructured deal for the final two years of Donavon McNabb’s contract.
The new deal will be worth $24.5 million, up from the old $19.2 million, a source told CSNPhilly.
McNabb “warranted, earned and deserved” the raise, head coach Andy Reid told reporters at a press conference Friday morning. Reid went on to call McNabb “the best quarterback in the National Football League.”
Praise also rained down from the upper echelon of the Eagles organization in a press release announcing the agreement.
“Donovan has played a large part of this team’s success over the last 10 years. He has been a professional in every sense of the word,” said Eagles chairman Jeffrey Lurie.
"We are thrilled that this all worked out. He is a great football player, a great person, and someone who gives back to the community. We are lucky to have him in Philadelphia,” said Eagles president Joe Banner.
But the lingering question going into into Friday’s press conference was why both parties went into a restructure rather than an extension.
“Our focus is to win the Super Bowl. Anything beyond that will take care of itself,” McNabb said. He also repeatedly said that “these two years are very important.”
That cryptic sentence leads to several questions: Will he leave if he doesn’t get a ring? Will he retire? Will he get the boot if he doesn’t win?
McNabb is the all-time Eagles leader for passing yards (29,320), touchdown passes (194), attempts (4,303), competitions (2,534), regular season (82) and playoff wins (7). He holds the NFL record for lowest interception percentage (2.09% -- 90 interceptions in 4,303 attempts) and the third best touchdown-interception ratio (2.16).
