Eagles CB Hanson Busted for Breaking NFL Drug Policy

The Eagles defensive backfield is starting to look like a wasteland after the Birds lost two cornerbacks within hours of each other.
Eagles nickel back Joselio Hanson was suspended Wednesday for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drugs policy.
Hanson won’t be paid during his four-game suspension, said the NFL. The suspension would begin immediately, according to the league.
The exact drug Hanson allegedly took wasn't revealed by the league or team but it was a diuretic, according to an ESPN.com report.
The cornerback was suspended after testing positive for a diuretic before last year's NFC Championship Game against Arizona, Hanson's attorney David Cornwell said.
He felt bloated after eating and took a pill that "turned out to be a diuretic," said Cornwell.
Hanson appealed but was notified on Tuesday that his suspension will stand, according to his attorney.
The Hanson suspension couldn’t come at a worse time for the Birds. Backup cornerback and kick returner Ellis Hobbs was shut down for the season Wednesday after suffering a neck injury.
Hanson recorded 29 tackles and an interception while playing in all eight games this season for the Birds. The 28-year-old can return to the team after their Dec. 6 game at Atlanta.
The Eagles already signed Ramzee Robinson to bolster the now-thinned defensive back corps. He and Dimitri Patterson would presumably back up Asante Samuel and Sheldon Brown when the Eagles play the Chargers on Sunday.
