Did Scott Hartnell open his mouth and take a bite Thursday night?

The Flyers were handed their first loss of the season Thursday night but what one Fly Guy possibly did to a Penguin's hand was all the talk the morning after.

An alleged hand chomp put the rivalry between the Flyers and their cross-state rivals to a new level.

Flyers tough guy Scott Hartnell allegedly bit Pittsburgh’s Kris Letang as the two scrummed near the end of the game, according to Yahoo Sports’ Puck Daddy.

With 1.2 seconds left Hartnell and Letang went to the ice and wrestled for a little as other players began to skate over. Soon Letang came out of the scrum holding his finger as could be seen on the video below.

It appeared that Letang and Pens coaches were trying to alert the refs that Hartnell chomped on a Pen's hand sandwich.

But, even though, Letang was wearing a bandage on his finger after the game he wouldn’t flat out accuse Hartnell of biting his hand, said Puck Daddy.

For his part Hartnell, the Flyers maned-winger, denied the bite. But, he chuckled as he made his denial, according to Philly.com’s Flyers Report.

Whether Hartnell bit Letang was left up for discussion. The incident could wind up more serious, though, if the NHL gets involved and finds that Hartnell really did pull hi best Mike Tyson-impersonation on Letang.

The 700 Level summed up what game one in the bitter Battle of Pennsylvania (bite or not bite) was all about.

“It's gonna be a crazy season series, that's for sure.”
