Pa.'s Dell, U.S. Women's Quad Win Bronze

Clearville native rows to Olympic medal in 4-women scull

Natalie Dell said she would represent all of Pennsylvania when she rowed in the Women’s Quad Sculls in London.

Well, after earning a bronze medal in the event, The Penn State grad and her teammates -- Megan Kalmoe (Wisconsin), Kara Kohler (California) and Adrienne Martelli (Washington) -- are being claimed by all Americans as our own.

The Women’s Quad held off Australia’s charge over the final 500 meters in Wednesday’s Final to finish the 2,000-meter race in a time of 6:40.63.

Ukraine won the event in 6:35.93 with Germany coming in second with a time of 6:38.09.

Dell, who hails from Clearville, Pa., said before the Olympics that her team had the rest of the world on notice, their bronze medal proved it.

As she received her medal Dell couldn't hold back tears as a huge smile came across her face.
