Dan Carcillo put his team in a bad position Saturday night and the NHL acted quickly to make sure he wouldn’t do it again for four games.

The NHL suspended the Flyers forward four games for his role in a fight that earned him a whopping 19 penalty minutes and a game misconduct.

Carcillo landed a big punch on Washington's Matt Bradley as he dropped his gloves Saturday night. Following Carcillo's punch, Bradley fell to the ice and left the game. Despite being in the process of dropping his gloves, Bradley wasn't penalized.

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren did not agree with the decision, he said on Sunday.

Carcillo was tagged with two minutes for crosschecking, two minutes for instigation, five minutes for fighting, a 10-minute misconduct and a game misconduct in Philadelphia's 8-2 loss.

At the time of the punch the Fly Guys were tied with the Caps. After nine minutes of penalties the score was 4-1 Washington.

Carcillo has two goals, three assists and 87 minutes for the Flyers this year.

The suspension begins Monday at Montreal.
