“Action” Jackson Receives Special NFL Honor

DeSean Jackson plays with a "special" flair and finally he was recognized for his action-packed play.

The Eagles wideout was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September, the NFL announced Thursday.

This was "Action" Jackson’s first Player of the Month award. But it didn't come as a surprise since he received the Special Teams Player of the Week honor earlier this season for Week 1 performance.

In Week 1 Jackson scampered for an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown -- the second longest punt return in team history behind NBC Philadelphia’s own Vai Sikahema. (Had to give our guy the plug there.)

Jackson led the entire NFL through the first three weeks with his 22.2-yard punt return average.

Jackson has quickly emerged as one of the most electric and reliable weapons on the Eagles’ roster.

He does so much more than just returning punts -- heck ask any fantasy football owner what they think of DeSean. This season he also hauled in 12 catches for 259 yards and two scores. Oh yeah, and he ran the ball five times for 48 yards -- simply put, the kid can do it all.

Anyone out there who thought his rookie season was a fluke is dead wrong -- his touchdowns of 85, 71 and 64 yards made him the first player in NFL history to score a TD of 60 or more yards in each of the first three games of a season.

The only thing more exciting than watching him with the ball in his hands is imagining what he’s going to do next.
