Jackson Knocked Out of Action

Wideout suffers concussion

Eagles wideout DeSean Jackson left Sunday’s game with the Redskins after taking a big hit to the head.

The injury was originally described as a head and neck injury but was later determined to be a concussion.

Head Coach Andy Reid didn't think it was as serious as the first concussion suffered by Jackson's teammate Brian Westbrook.

"He was just a little groggy, but he was able to get up and get off the field," he said.

D-Jax was hit hard by Skins' linebacker London Fletcher while making a grab over the middle during the third quarter. It kept "Action" Jackson out of action for most of the second half of the Eagles' 27-24 win.

He remained on the field for a few moments before walking off under his own power. He was being examined on the sideline but after a few minutes he went back to the Birds’ locker room.

It wasn't clear the severity of the injury. In light of the NFL's recent focus on concussions the Eagles would keep a close eye on their explosive receiver.

"We'll just have to see how he does here," said Reid. "We'll do the test on him and evaluate him."

Earlier in the game Jackson grabbed a 35-yard TD. He finished the day with two catches for 41 yards.

Fellow receivers Jason Avant and Jeremy Maclin picked up the slack in Jackson's absence. Avant made two grabs for 66 yards in the game-tying drive and Maclin caught a big 35-yard pass in the game-winning drive.
