Meet Your 2010 Phillies

There were few surprises as the Phillies finalized their Opening Day roster Monday but that doesn’t mean a few names didn’t surprise.

At the start of Spring Training who would have thought Andrew Carpenter and David Herndon would be wearing red pinstripes once the regular season began?

With closer Brad Lidge and setup guy J.C. Romero starting the season on the DL the doors to the pen were opened to Carpenter and Herndon.

Both righties will be available in the Phillies bullpen Monday when they open the season in DC.

The rest of the bullpen is rounded out by righties Ryan Madson, Danys Baez, Jose Contreras and Chad Durbin and lefty Antonio Bastardo.

The Phils will start the season with a rotation of ace Roy Halladay, fellow righty Kyle Kendrick and lefties Jamie Moyer, Cole Hamels and J.A. Happ.

There were no surprises with the position players and the bench.

The Phillies will carry two catchers: Carlos Ruiz and Brian Schneider.

Six Infielders: Starters Ryan Howard, Placido Polanco, Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley and backups Juan Castro and Greg Dobbs.

Five Outfielders: starters Raul Ibañez, Shane Victorino and Jayson Werth and backups Ben Francisco and Ross Gload.
