Santorum to Visit Gettysburg Tuesday

Former senator will watch Illinois primary returns in Pa.

Rick Santorum is planning to watch the returns from Tuesday's Illinois primary in Gettysburg.

The former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania plans to hold a campaign party at the Best Western hotel in the center of town starting at 8 p.m. Tuesday. The event is open to the public.

Santorum's campaign is billing the event as an election-night celebration, referring to the Illinois balloting, as he and the other three Republican presidential candidates jockey for delegates to the national nominating convention.

NJ Gov. Chris Christie traveled to Illinois last Friday to campaign for former Mass. governor Mitt Romney.

NBC News reported on Sunday that Santorum promised supporters that a win in Illinois would “guarantee you that we will win this nomination.”

On Wednesday, Santorum is scheduled to head back to Louisiana for more campaigning before Saturday's caucuses in that state.

The Pennsylvania primary is set for April 24, the same day as Delaware, New York, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.
