US Rep. Joe Sestak is set to announce he will face off against Republican-turned-Democrat Senator Arlen Specter in Pennsylvania’s Democratic primary.

Sestak, a retired Navy flag officer, is set to make the announcement Tuesday morning at the Hebert W. Best VFW Post in Folsom, Delaware County.

He will then take a two-day campaign tour to Pittsburg, Johnstown, Harrisburg and Scranton and end Wednesday with an appearance on Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report”.

The five-term senator in April severed his decades-long ties with the Republican Party. He said, in part, it was to avoid a primary challenge with former Rep. Pat Toomey, who is heavily favored to win the Republican primary.
