Philly DA, Wife Ending Marriage

Couple confirmed separation on Tuesday

Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams and his wife Sonita are calling it quits on their marriage.

The Philadelphia Daily News reported on Tuesday that Williams confirmed the split in a joint statement.

According to the report, the couple made the decision to end their marriage “after long and careful consideration.” The two also said they fully intend to co-parent their three daughters,  ages 24, 12, and 8.

Williams made history in Nov. 2009 with a decisive election victory, to become the first African American District Attorney of Philadelphia and in Pennsylvania. He had spent 10 years as an Assistant District Attorney in the 1990’s.

Sonita Williams is a social worker.

The Daily News reported they continued to live together until recently, despite being “effectively-separated” for about a year.
