Philly Activists: Denied Entrance to Romney Event

Some were given refunds and turned away

More than a dozen activists who bought tickets to a Philadelphia event featuring Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney say they were denied entrance without explanation.

The activists protested yesterday on the steps of the Franklin Institute in central Philadelphia as Romney spoke inside at an event organized by the Independence Hall Tea Party Association.

The protesters said that when they tried to go inside, they were refused entry. Event organizers eventually granted them refunds for their $20 tickets after they chanted loudly outside.

The activists from groups such as Occupy Philly and Fight For Philly say they just wanted to ask Romney questions about his policies.
