A state board is planning to vote on new rules that would determine how many homes each New Jersey community should have within the financial reach of lower-income residents.
But affordable housing advocates and environmentalists say they are not satisfied with the rules, which could allow developers to build nine market-rate homes for every affordable one.
The rules are up for a vote at the Council on Affordable Housing.
It comes after pressure from the state Supreme Court, which has ruled that Gov. Chris Christie's administration had to have a plan. The court said a plan had to be approved by November.
Christie had previously attempted to dissolve the housing council.
