Corbett's Inaugural Plans Take Shape

Committee releases details of Gov.-elect Corbett's Inaugural festivities

Two days of events will mark the inauguration of Tom Corbett as Pennsylvania's 46th governor.

Corbett's inaugural committee said Tuesday that a performing arts program, a Catholic Mass and an inaugural ball will wrap around his swearing-in on Jan. 18.

"This is a time for Pennsylvanians to come together and celebrate our great state," said Corbett.

The performing arts program will be at 4 p.m. on Jan. 17 at Harrisburg's Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts.

The Catholic Mass will be at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 18 at St. Patrick's Cathedral, a block from the Capitol.

Corbett's swearing-in ceremony begins at 11:30 a.m. on the East Wing steps outside the Capitol.  Lt. Gov.-elect Jim Cawley will be sworn in one hour earlier in the Capitol Senate Chamber.

Tickets to all three events will be free, but seating will be limited.

The inaugural ball will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg.  When they become available, tickets will be $150.
