Obama Holds Steady in NJ

Poll: Obama's popularity in NJ stays steady

A new poll finds President Barack Obama's job-approval remains steady among registered voters in New Jersey.

The Fairleigh Dickinson PublicMind Poll released Wednesday shows 50 percent of those surveyed approve of Obama's performance, down one percentage point from March. Forty-two percent disapprove, unchanged from the last poll.

However, 33 percent say the country is headed in the right direction, while 56 percent say it's on the wrong track.

The poll also found Obama holds a 14-percentage point lead over presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romey in New Jersey. Men are about equally divided in their support for the candidates, but 54 percent of women back Obama.

The telephone poll of 797 voters was conducted from April 30-May 6 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
