Booker, Lonegan Set for Final Debate

Debate will be broadcast live on NBC10

The candidates are ready, Rowan University is ready and NBC10 is ready as the two men vying to become New Jersey’s next U.S. Senator face off for the final time.

The candidates running for U.S. Senate in New Jersey have a chance to sway voters in their second and final debate tonight.

Democrat Cory Booker and Republican Steve Lonegan will face questions on the Rowan University campus Wednesday, one week before the Oct. 16 special election. The televised debate will be carried by NBC10 and streamed on NBC10.com at 7 p.m.

The debate comes as Democrats and Republicans in Washington wrangle over the partial government shutdown.

In their first debate, Booker took aim at Lonegan's association with tea party groups, which he accused of “hijacking” the federal government over the new federal health care law.

Lonegan criticized Booker's prolific use of social media saying, “New Jersey needs a leader, not a tweeter.”

NBC10’s Jim Rosenfield will moderate Wednesday night’s debate in front of a crowd of hundreds packed into Rowan’s Pfleeger Concert Hall.
