Obama Uses Job Surge to Push for Health Care

President Obama took full political advantage of the upswing in jobs Saturday, telling Americans in his weekly address that the economy can now handle one of the keystone plans of his administration - improved and expanded access to health care.

"We've begun to put the brakes on this recession and ... the worst may be behind us," Obama proclaimed in his weekly radio and Internet address.

"But we must do more than rescue our economy from this immediate crisis; we must rebuild it stronger than before," he said. "We must lay a new foundation for future growth and prosperity, and a key pillar of a new foundation is health insurance reform."

The address comes a day after former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said Obama's plan could lead to health care rationing and was "downright evil."
