Meehan Tapped for Weekly GOP Address

U.S. Rep. Pat Meehan (R-Pa. 7th District) will deliver the Weekly Republican Address on Feb. 4, focusing on GOP plans to help put millions of Americans to work.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) made the announcement on Thursday.

“While President Obama’s policies are making our economy worse, Republicans’ Plan for America’s Job Creators offers better solutions to help small businesses and opportunities for common ground,” Boehner said in a statement.

Boehner highlighted several jobs bills on Thursday that have already cleared the House. Boehner says President Obama has indicated support for the proposals and the Speaker blames Senate Democrats for stalling action on the bills.

Boehner praised Meehan saying he “is looking out for hardworking taxpayers and working on solutions that will remove government barriers to job creation in America. I look forward to hearing him discuss these priorities in our weekly address to the nation.”

Meehan lives in Drexel Hill and represents Pa.’s 7th District, covering most of Delaware County and portions of Montgomery, Berks, Chester and Lancaster counties.

“With so many families struggling in this difficult economy, the American people are looking to us for solutions,” Meehan said. “We’ve put forward a plan that will help create jobs and grow our economy. We need to act on these common-sense ideas and produce results for the American people.”

Meehan is serving his first term in the House.
