Last Papers in Chris Christie's Lawsuit Due Before Court

Lawyers for Gov. Chris Christie's administration and the public worker unions that are suing it over pension contributions have court papers due in two different court cases.

The core issue is the same in both. Unions say Christie is breaking the law by making pension contributions below what he agreed to in a 2011 law.

Christie's administration is due to turn in a brief on Friday for a state Supreme Court case regarding the payments due this year.

Unions have a brief due the same day in a lower-court case over the payments planned for next year.

Christie says that the state cannot afford to make the full pension payments and is calling to overhaul pensions and health plans for public workers.

Both courts have arguments scheduled for May.
