The 2nd Lady Makes Her Dramatic TV Debut

Jill Biden plays herself on "Army Wives"

The second lady can now claim she’s an actress.

Vice President Joe Biden’s wife, Jill Biden, will appear on Lifetime’s popular drama Army Wives.

Biden, who grew up in Willow Grove, Pa., plays herself on the episode and speaks with military families about the challenges they face.

“I’m proud to be here today as a second lady, but I’m even more proud to be here as a military mom,” Biden tells a group supporting military kids by attending a fun run on the show. She stresses how important it is to build “stronger ties between our civilian and military communities.”

This shouldn’t be a tough role for Biden, since she is a military mother. The Biden’s son, Beau, is in the Army National Guard and has spent a year in Iraq. Biden also offers her voice in real life to support military families.

The episode, "Mud, Sweat and Tears," airs on August 8 and features several real army wives, as well.
