Vice President Biden's Son, Hunter, Discharged From Navy Reserves Due to Drugs: Report

The U.S. Navy kicked Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter out of the Navy Reserves because he tested positive for cocaine, NBC News reported.

Hunter Biden, the second son of the former Delaware senator and his first wife Neila Hunter, failed a drug test late last year, a U.S. official told NBC News.

The 44-year-old married father of three was kicked out of the reserves on Valentine's Day of this year, the official said.

Hunter Biden responded to the reports of his discharge in a statement through his lawyer.

"It was the honor of my life to serve in the US Navy, and I deeply regret and am embarrassed that my actions led to my administrative discharge," he said. "I respect the Navy's decision. With the love and support of my family, I'm moving forward."

Hunter is a former lobbyist and attorney who now works at an investment firm.

Last year Biden received a commission as a public affairs officer in the Navy Reserve. He required a special waiver because he was 42 years old.
