Spike in Gun Permit Applications Has ‘Everything' to Do With Deadly Paris Attacks: Pennsylvania Sheriff

Officials say applications for gun permits have spiked in Pennsylvania following the terror attacks in Paris.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports several counties have seen an increase in permit applications or renewals in the wake of the attacks that killed 129 people.

Chester County Sheriff Carolyn Bunny Welsh says the bump has "everything" to do with the attacks. Her office got 85 applications for permits or renewals on Monday and Tuesday. That's at least double the daily average from last month.

The Allegheny County Sheriff's Office took to Facebook to ask people not to call the office because it has been so swamped.

Experts say the increase shouldn't be surprising and tends to happen after highly publicized incidents.

Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties didn't see a spike in applications.
