Gov. Corbett's Approval Rating Drops: Poll

Pa. Gov. hits new low in survey

A new poll shows Gov. Tom Corbett's job-approval rating is lower than ever.

The Quinnipiac University survey released today found that voters disapprove of the Republican's performance, 47 percent to 36 percent. The survey marks his lowest rating in the poll. It’s a sharp reversal since September, when Corbett's approval rating peaked at 50 percent, compared with 32 percent who disapproved.

The numbers coincide with signs of discontent among fellow Republicans over Corbett's leadership and unrelenting Democratic criticism of his spending cuts in education and social services.

The telephone survey of 997 voters was conducted from June 5 to June 10, The margin of sampling error was plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
