Former Philly Mayor's Cadillac Sold at Auction

A Cadillac that once belonged to late Philadelphia Mayor Frank L. Rizzo has been sold at auction for an undisclosed price.

Rizzo's son, Philadelphia City Councilman Frank Rizzo, plans to use the proceeds to care for his father's statue.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Philadelphia resident George Poulos bought the car Saturday at the Wildwood Classic Car auction in Wildwood, N.J.

The 72-year-old Poulos' winning bid for the black 1980 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham came after someone else's bid of $27,500 was rejected. He says he'll drive the car himself.

The younger Rizzo says he knows the car, which only has 16,170 miles on it, will be well cared for.

He had given it to his father after he retired as mayor in 1980.
