Delaware Candidates Discuss Issues

Delaware's Democratic junior U.S. senator and lone congressman say trying to get things done in Washington can be frustrating, but they promise to continue working on bipartisan approaches to tackling the country's challenges if re-elected.

Sen. Chris Coons and Rep. John Carney were among several candidates for state and federal office who took part in a campaign forum Wednesday evening at Delaware State University.

Coons said it can be frustrating trying to get things done in Washington, where he says too much time is spent on "manufactured crises."

Carney expressed similar sentiments, saying Democrats and Republicans need to spend more time looking for common ground instead of worrying about their own political futures.

Their Republican challengers say the two incumbent Democrats have failed their constituents.
