Delaware Senator to Visit American Troops Fighting Ebola in Africa

Delaware Senator Chris Coons says he is going to West Africa to visit U.S. soldiers who are helping to fight the Ebola outbreak.

Coons tells WDEL Radio he wants to visit Liberia because no member of Congress has yet visited U.S. troops and members of the Uniformed Public Health Service who have been deployed there.

Coons says it is important to go and thank the U.S. forces working in the region.

Coons says he won't be in danger of contracting the virus. He plans to visit facilities that U.S. troops have just finished building but that don't yet have Ebola patients. He will still monitor for Ebola symptoms following protocol from the Centers for Disease Control for 21 days after he returns.
