Casino Gambling Finds Little Support in North Jersey: Poll

A group has suspended its ad campaign seeking support for casino gambling in northern New Jersey because polling finds little support from wary voters.

Meadowlands Racetrack operator Jeff Gural and former Reebook chief executive Paul Fireman of OUR Turn NJ on Thursday released a statement that said an internal poll found 37 percent of New Jersey residents support amending the constitution to allow a pair of casinos to be built in the north.

The poll found voters have a negative outlook on the direction of the state and just 10 percent believe politicians would deliver on using the revenue for the purposes promised.

The men say the state's current political climate and voters' concerns about the lack of details are "overwhelming."

The amendment is on November's ballot.
