Philadelphia officials are talking about changing and perhaps eliminating a business fee that city bloggers have protested as unfair.

The city's so-called business privilege license costs $50 a year or $300 for a lifetime. The city says it applies to bloggers if they take money for advertising or sell photographs or other goods. But some bloggers say they earn only a tiny amount and requiring a license is unfair.

About 15 bloggers, freelancers and small business owners met city officials at an Old City bar on Wednesday evening to talk about the issue.

Andrea Mannino, special assistant to the city's revenue commissioner, says officials are talking about changing or eliminating the fee required for a business privilege license. But she says that would require City Council approval and won't happen anytime soon.
