Rutgers' Camden, Newark Law Schools to Merge

The American Bar Association has approved Rutgers University's plan to merge its two law schools into one entity with two campuses.

The bar association's Section on Legal Education and Admission to the Bar voted on the approval last week. Rutgers says the vote was the final step toward creating the unified school.

Rutgers has been working on the merger of its formerly separate law schools in Camden and Newark for two years. The effort began on the heels of a bigger reorganization of public higher education in New Jersey.

A combined school would have more than 900 students. The change would allow students at both campuses. The schools' main law journals have already merged.

The schools say they'll have one application for the class entering in 2016.
