A Cincinnati Walmart employee penned an emotional letter to Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. heiress Alice Walton after an Oklahoma City Walmart launched a donation drive for employees who do not earn enough money to buy Thanksgiving dinner last week.
In the letter, the Walmart worker, La'Randa Jackson states her dire need to earn a better wage.
"It's not just Thanksgiving dinner that's an issue; it's dinner every night," the letter read.
"My co-workers and I don’t want your food bins. We work hard and we don’t want your charity. We want you and your family to improve pay and hours for Walmart workers like me so that we can buy our own groceries."

Wal-Mart officials said the donation bins were intended to support employees who had taken medical leaves, not employees in general. The donation drive offended some employees and further fueled the call for a mass employee walkout at Walmart stores throughout the country on one of the biggest shopping days of the year, Black Friday.
