2 Slashed at Port Authority Bus Terminal: Officials

Two people were slashed by a man armed with a box cutter at Port Authority Bus Terminal Tuesday evening, just one block from where New Year's revelers are gathered in Times Square, according to officials.

Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo says the victims were attacked in the bus terminal's main concourse shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday.

A law enforcement official says the attacker, who appears to be homeless, got into a fight with one or possibly two other men, who may also be homeless.

The men were transported with slash injuries from Eighth Avenue, between 41st and 42nd streets, to Roosevelt Hospital, according to FDNY EMS. The injuries were not life threatening.

The suspect has not yet been apprehended, the official said. Although he's still at large, investigators said they believe he knew both of his victims and that there is limited risk to the public.
